born in 1966 in Cologne, studied mechanical engineering with a focus on manufacturing and production technology at the University (
RWTH), Aachen. He trained as a patent attorney in Cologne at Maxton
Langmaack & Partner and in Munich at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court, as
well as at the Düsseldorf Regional Court under Prof. Dr. Meyer-Beck.
Jochen Maxton advises clients in all areas of intellectual property law. One focus of his work as a patent attorney is trademark law, in particular the support of worldwide trademark registration procedures. Another focus is the management and optimization of national, regional and international trademark portfolios. In addition, he is experienced in the prosecution and defense of product piracy products, e.g. in Indonesia. Finally, he specializes in conducting research into international trademark problems and has successfully managed countless opposition, refusal of protection and infringement proceedings at home and abroad for both German and foreign clients.
Another focus of his work is advising founders and startups, social entrepreneurs and non-profit associations in North Rhine-Westphalia, with a focus on the startup ecosystems of Cologne, Bonn, Aachen and Düsseldorf. The clients served nationwide from the firm's headquarters in Munich also benefit from this. He and his colleagues in Munich offer free initial advice on trademark, design and patent protection, supplemented on request by the application and implementation of funding applications for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at the respective institutions, which helps in particular in the early days to secure valuable IP that influences the company's value despite tight budgets.
Jochen Maxton also took part in international conferences of INTA, AIPPI, ECTA and APAA for many years. He regularly travels abroad to maintain, intensify and expand the firm's network of highly qualified colleagues working in the field of intellectual property with new collaborations.
Jochen Maxton was and is a member of various national and international professional and cooperation associations in which he is involved. He was an elected delegate of the North Rhine-Westphalian patent attorney colleagues of the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys e.V. and a board member of the Association of North Rhine-Westphalian Patent Attorneys e.V. His technical expertise lies in general mechanical engineering, particularly in the areas of manufacturing and production technology..
