born in Kirchheim/Teck in 1978, studied chemistry at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. In her diploma thesis at the Institute of Organic Chemistry she worked on the synthesis and characterization of catalysts containing rare-earth elements for use in enantioselective organic synthesis and polymerization. During this time she also gained experience in industry via internships at Siemens AG Erlangen and BASF AG Ludwigshafen. In 2002, she moved to Stuttgart and joined the group of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Martin Jansen at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Chemistry for her dissertation. She investigated metastable ozonide and auride anions concerning their magnetic properties and relativistic effects, respectively. After a postdoctoral study at the Laboratoire de Cristallographie, Résonance Magnétique et Modalisations, UMR CNRS 7036, Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy in France, dealing with experimental electron density determination on metal-organic compounds, she returned to the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart. There she worked until mid-2013 as a research associate in the field of crystallography and inorganic chemistry.

Dr. Hanne Nuss is member of VPP as well as the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker e.V. (GDCh; German Chemical Society). Her main areas of expertise comprise inorganic, metal-organic and physical chemistry and materials science. She is co-author of more than 20 scientific publications and lecturer for chemistry at the Faculty of Industrial Engineering of the Munich University of Applied Sciences.
